Electric brakes are currently a valuable alternative to brake drums. Electric brakes are the most common braking system installed on trailers. Electronic brakes require the installation of a controller on the vehicle that allows for the correct transmission of power to ensure braking occurs. There is a magnet on the inner side of the back panel, with 2 wires on top that can be directly wrapped in the trailer wires. When energized, it magnetizes the brake magnet, which is attracted to the surface of the brake drum. When it comes into contact with the area, friction causes the brake drum to rotate, moving the actuating arm and pushing the brake shoes out of the brake drum, causing the wheels to stop rotating. There is a special brake pad material on the brake shoes that can resist the heat generated by friction. The electric brake is stable and free from jerks, without any impact or jerk related to the disconnection between the electronic brake and the normal hydraulic brake. Compared with general mechanical friction braking, electric braking is also very fast.

How to Identify Electric Brakes
Right or left: When the magnet is located at the bottom of the brake, the actuating arm will start at the "top pivot" and bend downwards towards the "magnet" direction. The left bending arm is a combination of the left side, while the right bending arm is a combination of the right side.
Size: Measure the diameter of the installed shoe component at the front center, and then measure the width of the shoe lining. This will give you the brake size.
Flange installation: Determine the number of mounting bolts on the brake by calculating the mounting holes or studs on the brake assembly.
Replacement of components: Sometimes key components can be replaced to restore brake function. In some cases, replacing the entire brake assembly may be cost-effective. The following is a list of common replaceable components.
